Background of the study:
Entrepreneurship education has gained prominence as a means to equip secondary school students with critical skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and financial literacy. In Umuahia North, initiatives aimed at integrating entrepreneurship into the secondary school curriculum are designed to foster innovation and economic self-reliance (Okeke, 2023). By exposing students to entrepreneurial principles early, educators hope to stimulate a mindset geared toward business creation and job generation. However, challenges such as limited resources, inadequate teacher training, and insufficient practical exposure hinder the effectiveness of these programs (Chukwu, 2025)). Despite these obstacles, schools that have successfully implemented entrepreneurship modules report improved student engagement and a greater propensity for innovative thinking. This study examines the extent to which entrepreneurship education influences the attitudes and skills of secondary school students. It explores the effectiveness of current programs, identifies key challenges, and evaluates their impact on students’ readiness to participate in the competitive business environment. The findings will contribute to the development of more robust entrepreneurship curricula that can better prepare students for the dynamic global economy (Okeke, 2023).
